The Avengers are broadsided with a wave of anti-alien sentiment when the de-evolved technicians from last issue reveal the existence of the Kree. A senate inquiry is formed and the Avengers are summoned to give testimony on why they were harboring the Kree soldier Mar-vell. The situation escalates after a near brawl between Goliath and The Thing and Rick Jones runs out of the inquiry, responding to his vision of Captain Marvel in deadly danger. The Avengers return to Tony Stark's townhouse where they are met by Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man. After a brief statement the three original Avengers disband the team.
